A vision in Marabou

"I shall dance all my life... I would like to die, breathless, spent, at the end of a dance."

  1. One of my heroes from the moment I saw the documentary 'Chasing a Rainbow: The Life of JosĂ©phine Baker' as a wee tot on a Sunday afternoon. It stayed with me all my childhood until the mini-series (remember those) starring Lynn Witfield ran across two glamorous nights and it just reignited my interest. Such a trailblazer! A belated Happy Birthday La Baker! đŸŽ‚đŸŸđŸ„‚

    1. Neither extravaganza have ever - to my knowledge - been shown here [not on a channel I would ever watch, anyhow], and Miss Whitfield remains a complete mystery... However, the original was a legend worth celebrating! Jx

    2. I'm pretty sure both are now on YouTube...the documentary definitely. I'll have a look for you. Lynn Whitfield currently stars in Oprah's new Netflix series 'Greenleaf' as a sought of matriarch in the mould of Diahann Carroll, and has had a very American career. I am always happy to find her when I see her in something. Let me see if I can find the mini series. Very glitzy, and slightly exploitative but that was the fun of those 80s-90s mini-series!!
